The public library was established on
November 11, 1963. The following year it was housed in a rented home on Vickory
Street. Bonnie Jarrad was the first librarian at this site. The first board
members were Lucile L. Morgan, Margaret Voss, J.C. Pope, Tildon H. Gibbs and Graydon H.
Genge. The library moved to its current residence in 1970.
